MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION

Freck’s favorite projects have combined orchestral works with other art forms and media, from his earliest opportunities producing the “Nerve Endings series of innovative concert formats for Oregon Symphony in the 1990s to his all-time #1 project ever, a hybrid orchestra concert-slash-theatrical production of Sir Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus in 2010, on to Eugene Symphony’s mind-boggling exploration of Alexander Scriabin’s Prometheus: The Poem of Fire in 2019, and a community celebration centered on Ravel’s Bolero and a tribute to the life and legacy of legendary Oregon runner Steve Prefontaine, both in 2022. The celebration of Steve Prefontaine’s impact on track and field - and generations of health-minded runners worldwide - was reprised in October 2023, out of which a commercial recording is being produced.

“There’s something truly magical about combining different elements and disciplines that add up to much more than the sum of their parts. When it works, all the art forms are elevated and transformed, raising each other up into a brand-new experience. Everybody wins, especially the audience,” Freck says.

Examples below of ideas that are easily transferrable to other communities include:

A sample clip of Bolero, which combined live orchestra with pre-recorded video of individual musicians in well-loved locations around Eugene projected above stage during the performance.

A sample of The Four Seasons of the McKenzie River, which combined crowd-sourced photos and videos submitted by local amateur and professional artists with a live performance of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
